Raising funds for Seafarers UK can be challenging and a whole lot of fun!

Eight months into 2018 and the fundraising efforts of our supporters are as inventive as ever, from wine tasting, to individual teams pitting themselves against completing the 24 Peaks Challenge on one of the hottest weekends of the year.

Seafarers UK lucked out with the weather in 2018 starting as early as April when our runners ran the London Marathon.

Book-signings, table quizzes, corporate 5-a-side football matches and golf days raised a tremendous amount of much needed funds as well as highlighting to the maritime community all the projects, campaign work and front-line charities that Seafarers UK supports.

Seafarers UK as a charity does not receive any government funding so we are heavily dependent on the good will and generosity of our individual and corporate supporters.  We are always grateful to everyone who makes an effort to fundraise for us.

One of our newer supporters, The Propeller Club Liverpool generously organised two fundraising events in support of Seafarers UK, raising over £1,000. Their maritime 5-a-side football tournament was hotly contested by a number of maritime teams.  Sponsored by Fort Recruitment, the competition was played out on a balmy Sunday afternoon by the banks of the Mersey. Ten teams were fielded by a number of companies operating in the Mersey maritime cluster, including KVH Media Liverpool & Leeds, Offshore Painting Services, Nautilus, Accu-Right Engineering, AB Ports, MIRIS, Fort Recruitment and Bibby Marine. MIRIS International eventually fought off the tough challenge posed by Fort Recruitment and the entire tournament raised over £600 on the day.

To mark Seafarers Awareness Week in June, Propeller Club Liverpool also hosted their annual summer maritime quiz. The evening was well attended and between team entries and the post-quiz raffle, Propeller Club Liverpool consolidated their charity donation to over £1,000 for Seafarers UK.

“We are hugely proud of the local maritime community in supporting the incredible work of Seafarers UK”
