The Maritime Charities Group (MCG) fosters collaboration across the maritime charity sector. It does this by sharing information, commissioning research supporting the education and welfare of seafarers and their families and by the promotion of best practice within the maritime charity sector.
Our vision is for a maritime charity sector that works collaboratively to achieve the greatest impact for seafarers and their families.
The Maritime Charities Group (MCG) is an alliance of nine major seafaring charities in the UK. We work to foster collaboration across the UK Maritime Charity Sector by providing a forum for the exchange of information relevant to the sector, enabling a better distribution of resources and developing effective impact measurement. The MCG also commissions research for the benefit of the UK maritime charity sector and its beneficiaries from the Royal Navy, Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets.
Seafarers UK currently administers the group and the Chairman is Commodore Barry Bryant RN, CVO.
The first Maritime Charities Group Blog, by Chairman is Commodore Barry Bryant RN, CVO and Director General of Seafarers UK, reflecting on how the Maritime Charities sector in the UK has changed and how the Maritime Charities Group has fitted into that change.Read now
