Seavision was a UK-nationwide campaign to inspire young people, aged 11 to 22, to consider a career in the maritime sector.

Seavision was originally guided by an informal partnership of ‘stakeholders’ comprising Lloyd’s Register, Royal Navy, Seafarers UK, Trinity House and UK Chamber of Shipping. HRH The Princess Royal was Seavision’s Patron.

At Seafarers UK’s suggestion, Seavision created a ‘Career Navigator’ web portal to ‘signpost’ helpful sources of information about the diverse employment opportunities at sea and ashore. That service is now provided by the promotional body Maritime UK, initially for ‘influencers’ such as parents, grandparents, teachers and careers advisers – see

Other Seavision projects – including the educational initiative ‘My School is an Island’ – are now being managed by Seafarers UK. For further information please contact Nick Harvey, email
